We recently oversaw the Day-Of Coordination for April & Russel’s Autumn Wedding. 

Their Catholic ceremony incorporated a few of the Filipino wedding ceremony traditions, such as the  Cord Ceremony in which a cord is looped around the bride and groom in the shape of the number 8 to represent endless and infinite love.  The Veil Ceremony also has significance in the Filipino weddings as the bride and groom are draped in a veil representing their protection under God’s love.

While the bride and groom were taking their breathtaking photographs, and their guests entertained by cocktails in the main foyer, we were busy in the reception hall ensuring that all the details were being taken care of.  We confirmed that every guest would receive their candy apple placed at each table setting, we ensured the stunning wedding cake was set up and ready to be enjoyed, we even did a walk through to ensure all tables had the required number of seats set up.

Finally, it was time for the Bride and Groom’s grand entrance and their first dance, a choreographed number to Alicia Key’s “If I Aint Got You”

The night was spent enjoying great food and drink, a warm and loving group of family and friends, and great entertainment, including the spectacular performance by Folklorico Filipino Canada.

We wish to congratulate April & Russel on their marraige and thank them for allowing us the honour of being part of their very special day.  Wishing them all the very best!

In late August we were thrilled to have the opportunity to look after Ana & Mngabe’s wedding.  We were asked to look after the decor as well as make sure the day ran smoothly.  Floral decor and pew arrangements at the church were the first things we took care of.  

 At the banquet hall  we arranged the centre pieces, wishing tree and receiving table decor. 

One of the most important duties for us on the big day was to ensure that the time line that we established was followed to the minute. . . everything had to go as planned in order for the dancing to begin.  Ana  & Mngabe absolutely wanted their guests to party and be entertained and they surely were. 

The first dance was a choreographed one, their bridal party even got in on it, and before the dance floor was officially”open” the bride quickly changed into her second gown, (looking even more beautiful then she had earlier if it was even possible) to get down and dance another stunning dance.  Credit goes out to Mngabe who was an amazing leader.  As they danced their night away, the love in their eyes and admiration for one another could not be missed.  Ana & Mngabe were an absolutely amazing couple to work with.We wish them a wonderful life together.  All the best!

After a year long process of planning, Maria & Tom’s September 26th wedding proved to be a smash hit!  We had it all . . . starting with the most beautiful dress on an equally stunning bride.  Maria Said Yes To The Dress she fell in love with at Kleinfelds and we worked everything else into tying in her dress with her theme.  The end result, a wedding that was picturesque from start to finish. 

The ceremony was held at a Greek Orthodox Church in downtown Toronto, ensuring the traditions of their faith were met.  What an experience, watching such a delivery of sermon and service, bringing in tradition and heritage to a modern day wedding.  With the exchange of the stefana, the presence of the lambadas to signify the light of the Lord leading the couple in light and the exchange of the rings, Maria & Tom were married among their closest family and friends. 

After the ceremony we headed to the reception at The Paradise Banquet and Convention Centre, which was adorned in brilliance, care of Designing Trendz and Darling Flowers. 

 We celebrated the evening with amazing food, great entertainment and lots of dancing.  In keeping with tradition, the Bride and Groom danced each of their regionally inspired dances as well as a customary “money dance” 

As always, another sucessful and stylish wedding.  We at In Style Wedding Planners couldn’t have been more pleased with the wedding and our dear friends Maria & Tom were an absolute pleasure to work with over the course of the year.  We wish Maria & Tom a lifetime of love and happiness.   OPA!

We had the great honour and privilege of working with two great gentlemen, Gary & Phil in August.  Their vision was quite clear from the start - their wedding was to be a celebration of their lives together and a celebration of the people who brought them up to be the men that they are - their family and friends.  Photos provided by In Bloom Photography

Their ceremony took place in their downtown Toronto backyard, wonderfully decorated with trees, greens and florals.  They were surrounded by their closest family and friends in three circles on their patio.  One circle was filled with Gary’s guests,the other with Phil’s guests and the last circle was a joint one for both Phil & Gary.  

As the ceremony progressed each member read a specifically chosen passage and made their way into the opposite circle, thus signifiying the mixing of the circles, the forming of new bonds. 

After the ceremony, a champagne toast with traditional Jewish Freilach music followed.  Then the celebration headed to The Oasi where guests enjoyed an evening of great tappas style food and plenty of entertainment.  

Phil surprised his pilot partner with an airplane shaped ice sculpture, accompanied by popular drag queen Sofonda Cox, who performed “Voyage Voyage”   

The party kept on until late into the evening, and I imagine plenty of guests are still talking about the amazing wedding of Gary & Phil.  We were so happy to see two amazing men share the same right as other Canadians.  Special thank you to Carolyn, from In Bloom Photography who shot such amazing photos and truly captured the spirit of the wedding.

For now please enjoy our very first money box.  We loved it so much we named her “The Secret Garden”

The Jordan Almonds poem above is not only lyrical but also descriptive of the long standing tradition of handing out Jordan Almonds at weddings.  The custom dates back to the 15th century with the introduction of sugarcane into European diets.  The premise behind having five Jordan Almonds for guests is that the odd number can never be divided, as the bonds of marriage shall never be as well.

For those looking for a more romantic explanation to the inclusion of sugared almonds at weddings, we look to the Greek legend of a love story betweeen a young man who fell in love with a Princess.  They planned to marry but as the day neared the groom received news that he had to travel back home to tend to a gravely ill father.  The gentleman promised to return soon to marry his Princess but was held back for a period of three months.  Thinking that she would never again see her Prince Charming, the Princess hung herself.  The Greek Gods, being so moved by the show of undying love turned her body into an almond tree.  When her groom finally did return and learned of her fate, it is said that he hugged the tree and declared his love for her.  The tree blossomed and became a symbol of undying love.

Candy buffets are not a new phenomenon, they are however, catching on and quickly.  The options are endless as couples can design their candy buffet according to:

• wedding theme

Many couples looking to add a creative addition to their wedding reception opt for a candy buffet for numerous reasons.  The buffet serves a dual purpose; it is a form of decor, a focal point in the reception venue as well as being a great accompaniment to the wedding cake and any other sweet treat that you make have available to your guests including pastries, cakelettes, cupcakes, chocolate fountain and so forth.  Your candy buffet is an edible arrangement that everyone will surely love.

Guests are able to take as much or as little as they like, and with such a vast variety of offerings, surely everyone will see something they like.  A few tips for designing your candy buffet:

1. Have different sized candy holders placed on various heights of platforms
2. Treat your candy jars, vases, containers and holders to a ribbon treatment, one that unifies the look and  draws everything together
3. Label your candy - avoid your guests biting into something undesirable
4. Supply plenty of scoops
5. Provide take away cartons or bags
6. VARIETY - minimum of 5-6 different candy
7. WITHIN REASON - don’t have too much selection.  Anything more than 12-15 comes across too scattered and without rhym or reason
8. Purchase candy according to appearance of your completed buffet and not according to the number of guests.  Generally about 10lbs of each candy to refill emptying containers.
